Catie Horan Comic

1) The photo is of me
2) My challenges were getting straight lines as well as adding detail because it was kind of difficult to add detail on the computer.
3) I think the over all product turned out pretty well for my first time.

#6 Entry

1) Pictorialism is the name given to an international style and aesthetic movement that dominated photography during the later 19th and early 20th centuries.
2)  Photoshop is a sophisticated image manipulating program. It's features include the ability to crop, balance colors and tones, and format pictures.
3) I used the the sprayed strokes because it looked more like a painting to me.
4) I liked the final result because you can still tell that its me. And I think it looks very elegant.

Pinhole

1) A pinhole camera is a camera with a pinhole aperture and no lens. Because a pinhole camera requires a lengthy exposure, its shutter may be manually operated, as with a flap made of light-proof material to cover and uncover the pinhole. Typical exposures range from 5 seconds to several hours.
2) In the photo is Harmony and I. We put the pinhole camera on the ground and stood back. Then waited for about 15 seconds and then covered the hole back up.
3) I liked the final product. Its a little blurry but i don't think there is anything I can do about it. I liked the positive better than the negative because it is easier to see what is going on.

Photogram

1) A photogram is a picture produced with photographic materials, such as light-sensitive paper, but without a camera.2) I used my two favorite bracelets for the photogram. First I laid the bracelets on the light sensitive paper then I turned the light on for a couple seconds. After I put the paper through all the steps to develop the photo.
3) I used the two bracelets because they are very important to me. They describe me very well. One is my birthstone and the other is a dove which stand for faith and love.
4) I don't like the final product because I think I didn't challenge myself and it was very easy. Also, I don't think the pictures came out very well.

Cliche Verre

  •  Describe what a cliche verre is (history and characteristics)
  • Cliché verre is a combination of art and photography. In brief, it is a method of either etching, painting or drawing on a transparent surface, such as glass, thin paper or film and printing the resulting image on a light sensitive paper in a photographic darkroom.
  •  Explain how you made the cliche verre and what image you used to create it (technique and choices)
  •  I used black paint and scratched the image into the paint. I printed the image from the computer.
  • Why did you choose that particular image to paint in your cliche verre? (personal reflection)
  • I chose the picture of the pansies because I thought they were cute and simple. And that they would translate well on the light sensitive paper.
  •  Did you like the final result? Why or why not? (judgement)
  • I liked my positive final image. However, I don't really like my negative image because it was kind of shadowy in some places.

Camara Obscura

I have no picture because it is in the glass case outside of the classroom.
  • A camara obscura is a dark chamber or a box with a hole on one side and has light sensitive paper.
  • The camara obscura rotates the image 180 degrees (upside down). The image can be projected and then traced.
  • You can make your own camara obscura by getting two paper cups, painting the inside of both with black paint, placing light sensitive paper inbetween the two cups and then taping them together. Also putting a hole on either side of the cups allowing you to be able to look out one side to view the image on the other side.
  • I decorated mine with blue, gold and translucent white paint because it reminded me of the "Starry Night" painting.
  • I think the camara obscura is a very cool invention. And a great way to be able to draw images that would normally be very difficult.
